‘Hilda’ was born out of a study experience in Chile in 2019, where the filmmaker met Hilda Llanquinao Trabol, one of the first Mapuche women to become a university professor. Hilda lived through the tumultuous period between the Pinochet dictatorship and the rebirth of the Republic in the 1990s, and dedicated her life to promoting Mapuche culture and cosmovision. During his stay, the filmmaker lived with her family, initiating an important cultural exchange. The short film was initially conceived as part of the master's thesis ‘An enduring struggle’. In 2025, the film was reworked by Pelikan Films, becoming ‘Hilda, la cosmovisión Mapuche como fuente de inspiración’, with the aim of giving Hilda and the native peoples a voice, bringing their vision as a basis for addressing the climate crisis and the protection of the Ñuke Mapu (Mother Earth).
