After Giovanna's death, Ivan clings to her gestures, objects, and rituals. What begins as a tribute gradually turns into an obsession, until it blurs the boundaries between identity, love and memory.

synopsis

A fossil is an anachronistic object that crystallizes time, retaining what has been. In this sense, it is a cannibal form: it incorporates and preserves. Ivan, the protagonist of 'La forma cannibale', also becomes a fossil when he assumes the identity of his deceased wife, sacrificing his own. The short film explores the ambiguity of the human soul and emotional dependence, alternating between moments of observation and narrative junctures with a comic and grotesque tone.

Visually, I chose an unstable camera and sequence plans that render Ivan's precariousness, creating an illusion of reality that is constantly cracked. Windows, often the only source of light, mark the boundary between inside and outside, while natural sounds accompany his inner drift. The aesthetic is inspired by contemporary Mexican cinema, particularly Cuarón and Iñárritu: the camera becomes a body, the gaze is imperfect, wandering, poised between the chaos of experience and the need to give order.
